Artist Bio:
Recently I picked up a paintbrush and some acrylic paints, found objects and glue, and started to experiment with painting and collaging versions of earlier photographic work that I did with my iPhone. I realized that what I had been missing in focusing primarily on photography was achieving physical texture, even though I had aspired to achieve this in creating abstracted, colorful photographic collages made from combining images and using post-processing applications. I've found it extremely satisfying to experiment with color mixing and layering, using found objects both manmade and natural, while basing my work on some of my earlier photo images. As a trained clinical psychologist, I am prone to looking at things in a multifaceted way and always assuming in a given exploration that there will be depth and surprise. While a lot messier than iPhone photography, I'm really enjoying this new artistic process and in addition to the few painted images added here, I look forward to creating lots more.
